DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Austin Dillon, the 2018 winner of the Daytona 500, is among the drivers named to pilot RWR Eurasia’s Le Mans Prototype 2 (LMP2) entry in the 2021 Rolex 24 At Daytona.
The race is the season opener for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Joining Dillon in the RWR Eurasia Ligier JS P217 will be Cody Ware, the 2019-2020 LMP2 Am champion in the Asian Le Mans Series, and Salih Yoluc, winner at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Am class. A fourth driver for the team will be named later.
Dillon has three career NASCAR Cup Series victories, including winning NASCAR’s biggest, richest and most prestigious race on the famous Daytona International Speefway's 2.5-mile tri-oval in 2018 - the Daytona 500.
Dillon joins a growing list of NASCAR competitors who will compete in the Rolex 24, including the likes of seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson, reigning Cup Series champion Chase Elliott and AJ Allmendinger.
