Sheriff's Office: Woman robs convenience store near Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH -- A woman with a handgun robbed a convenience store Sunday near Daytona Beach, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

One employee was in the story when a woman with a handgun walked into Kelly's Food Mart, 1000 Derbyshire Road, and demanded cash. There were no shots fired or any injuries.

"The robber entered the store, pointed a gun at the clerk and ordered him to place the cash drawer on the counter," Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught said. "The 50-year-old man complied, and the woman then pulled cash out of it, grabbed some tobacco products that were nearby and fled the store on foot."

The robber was described as a black woman between 18 and 20 years old. She is about 5 feet 4 with noticeable acne on her face and a large nose. She was last seen wearing a greenish blue-hooded sweatshirt and gray capri pants.

provide information by texting "TIP231 plus the message" to CRIMES. Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
