Daytona Beach cops: Body found in Halifax River reeds identified as that of homeless man

The body of a man that was found in reeds in the Halifax River was identified Wednesday as that of Franklin Lewis Yakym, 51, a homeless man.

DAYTONA BEACH -- The decomposing body of a man found Tuesday in the reeds near the shoreline of the Halifax River on Riverside Drive in Holly Hill has been identified as 51-year-old Franklin Lewis Yakym, who had been living in a homeless shelter, Daytona Beach police said.

An autopsy showed there were no signs of trauma to the body or foul play, Daytona Beach police spokesman Jimmy Flynt said Thursday.
