South Daytona house fire quickly contained; resident escapes flames

SOUTH DAYTONA -- A house fire on Anastasia Drive shortly after midnight Saturday was contained to the rear of the structure and the single occupant escaped unharmed.

Fire units from Port Orange and Daytona Beach assisted the South Daytona Fire Department in the 12:26 a.m. blaze at 2569 Anastasia Drive.

The fire, which was determined by fire officials to be caused by a malfunctioning electrical outlet, was contained to the rear of the house and was quickly extinguished by fire crews. The occupant of the home was able to escape without injury and no other injuries were reported.

Fire officials estimated damages at $40,000.
