NSB second highest countywide in votes cast on first day of early voting for Aug. 24 primary elections

NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- With 197 votes cast Monday on the first day of early voting for the Aug. 24 primary elections, New Smyrna Beach had the second highest tally in Volusia County behind Deltona with 205.

Ormond Beach was third with 184 voters, followed by Daytona Beach with 170 and DeLand with 119.

The voting booths were at each city's main library.

In all, there were 875 votes cast by registered voters in the following parties, even though local races are non-partisan and state and federal are partisan: Democrats, 367; Republicans, 405 and other, 103.

The figures were posted on line by the Volusia County Board of Elections.

Early voting continues through Saturday for this week and resumes the following Monday through that Saturday with the primary on Tuesday, Aug. 24.
