PORT ORANGE -- State Rep. Dorothy Hukill, R-Port Orange, joined other Port Orange residents in their fight against crime during the Aug. 3 annual "Night Out Against Crime," designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in local anti-crime programs, and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.

The Port Orange event was a community block party that featured food and music.

State Rep. Hukill, a big supporter of public safety, encouraged neighbors, friends, and family to join in the festivities and take a stance against crime.

Hukill is the former mayor of Port Orange and is seeking re-election to the statehouse. Her district includes Port Orange, Pomce Inlet and all of Southeast Volusia, including New Smyrna Beach, Edgewater, Oak Hill and unincorporated Samsula, Bethune Beach and Silver Sands.
