Javarzia Anthuan Evans and Sanchez Demario Clark were charged with armed robbery Thursday of the Right Stop convenience store on North Dixie Freeway.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Two men were apprehended Thursday night, 17 hours after they walked into a newly opened convenience store at 3 a.m. and robbed it, New Smyrna Beach police said.
Javarzia Anthuan Evans and Sanchez Demario Clark, both were arrested shortly afer 8 p.m. and charged in the armed robbery of the Right Stop Convenience Store, 218 N. Dixie Freeway.
During the arrests, evidence linked to the robbery was located. Evans and Clark were booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail where they were each being held on $25,000 bail amounts.
A search warrant was also executed at Clark’s residence -- 400 block of Palm Street -- by members of the New Smyrna Beach SWAT Team.
Here is a synopsis of wehat happened as reported by Sgt. Shane Riggle: "Contact was made with the clerk who advised two black male suspects entered his store and implied they had weapons in their waistbands. The suspects ordered the clerk to open the register at which time they stole an undetermined amount of money. The suspects also took the clerk's cell phone before fleeing the area on foot. A search of the area was conducted for the suspects, however it was met with negative results. The victim was not injured during the incident."
The convenience store had opened just five days earlier.
