OUR ENDORSEMENT: We're split between independent Charlie Crist and Republican Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate

NSBNEWS.net and VolusiaNews.net provide 24/7 online-media coverage for a 21st-century world

NSBNEWS.net's publishers are split on the endorsement for the U.S. Senate. Henry Frederick likes Charlie Crist. Peter Mallory likes Marco Rubio. You decide today.  We chose videos from YouTube we felt best described each candidate's platform.

Here is Frederick's position: I have known Charlie Crist from his days as state attorney general. He's a decent man who cares about the Sunshine State and its people. I've carried his weekly "Notes from the Capital" for the nearly three years of NSBNEWS.net's existence. Like former Democrat Joe Leiberman of Connecticut, who switched to independent when the Democrats abandoned him, perhaps Crist's change from Republican to independent will help ease the partisan bickering in Washington.

Here is Mallory's position: I recommend a vote for Marco Rubio over Charlie Christ and Kendrik Meek. Rubio is a solid conservative who stands for all of the things I stand for. Charlie Christ really doesn’t know what he stands for or what party he belongs to. He really cooked his goose with the conservatives when he tried to buddy up with Obama over some of Obama’s policies such as the stimulus plan. Kendrick Meek is really weak and won’t be a factor in the race. If there's one thing Peter and I agree on, it's that Meek has absolutely no shot. Last month, when former President Clinton made a stop in Orlando's behalf, the party faithful were there for Clinton, the classic rock star of politics like the late Ronald Reagan. A Democratic vote for Meek means a vote for Rubio. That's great if you want Rubio. It's not so great if you prefer Crist.

NSBNEWS.net is the only Volusia County-based media outlet to hand out endorsements for the general elections. The Orange County-based Orlando Sentinel has done so as well. Our endorsements resulted from collaboration and debate between NSB News LLC's publishers, Henry Frederick, a registered Democrat, and Peter Mallory, a registered Republican, for posting on NSBNEWS.net and our new countywide website VolusiaNews.net.
