Mainland football player, 18, killed while drag racing on Nova Road and causing chain reaction pile-up

DAYTONA BEACH -- An 18-year-old Mainland High School football player was killed Saturday night after he lost control of his car on Nova Road while drag racing and flipped the vehicle which then crosse the median and collided with an oncoming vehicle, a police communications official confirmed early this morning.

Tevin Nathan Only, a senior and Daytona Beach resident, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:30 p.m. crash.

Only was racing north on Nova with another teen when he lost control of the vehicle near Bellevue Avenue, flipped, the crossed the median and struck an oncoming vehicle, which was rear-ended by several cars behind it.

No other details were released.
