SOUTH DAYTONA -- An elderly woman escaped flames that fully engulfed her home mid-day Monday, city officials said.
The South Daytona Fire Department responded to 750 Millbrook Lane at 12:35 p.m. to find the house up in flames, city spokeswoman Jeanne Willard said.
The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes, assisted by the Port Orange Fire Department The cause and exact location of the fire is under investigation. The home is expected to be a total loss.
Willard said the Red Cross is assisting Adrienne McDonald, the elderly resident, who was able to escape through the garage and was not injured. .
