Incredible Tim Tebow streak: All he does is win

This video clip shows Tim Tebow in action against the New York Jets as he gets around a defender and cuts against the grain to score the game-winning touchdown. The Broncos have won six in a row in the seven games Tebow has started at quarterback.

Finally, the sports media pundits are finally understanding what Florida fans have known all along: Tim Tebow is a winner. He may not be in the same class as John Elway or Joe Montana or Brett Favre, but he knows how to win and that's what counts.

For the past week the sports world has been completely captivated by Tebow and his incredible string of wins. The last one over the Chicago Bears. This week he will get an even bigger test against the New England Patriots.

The games are characterized by low scoring and last minute heroics to pull victory from almost certain defeat in the last seconds of the game. People are busy analyzing what is happening and I can’t resist adding in my own analysis of what is behind Tebow's tremendous success.

First of all, he commits very few mistakes that lead to turnovers, at least late in the game. As any fan knows mistakes are what usually determine a ball game. While he has been criticized for inaccurate throwing, his passes are rarely intercepted. This goes back to his days at the University of Florida where he was rarely intercepted.

Second, in the crucial closing minutes of the fourth quarter and in overtime, Tebow has been able to lift the level of his game, even earlier than given credit for in games. As an example, Tebow completed 18 out of his last 24 passes against the Bears. This last minute peak in performance has led to so many miraculous comebacks.

The third and maybe most valuable characteristic of Tebow is his ability to get his teammates to play at a high level. There are several aspects to this leadership ability. He quickly and firmly gives all credit to his teammates. There is a saying in business that you can accomplish anything if you don’t care who gets the credit.

I have watched some very successful executives apply this principle with great results. He never gets down on himself or his teammates. When things go wrong he makes it clear by his body language that he believes that they will get it done on the next opportunity.

He exudes confidence in his teammates even when they fail to make plays they should be making. This confidence is usually rewarded by better play at the next opportunity. As a result of all this positive attitude Denver has gotten the most out of their team and out of Tim Tebow. The whole sports nation is awaiting the next game with New England.

Tim TebowTimothy Richard "Tim" Tebow, born August 14, 1987, is the starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos, drafted as the 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida.
