My Fellow Volusians,
Ben Johnson has been our county’s chief law enforcement officer since 2000, and has served us well as a valued member of the Sheriff’s Department since 1971.
He is the recipient of a great many honors and awards from his fellow law enforcement officers and state sheriffs’ associations and has given selflessly of his time and energies to serve on charitable boards and in other offices of community service in addition to his decades of hard and dangerous work as sheriff.
When the Oak Hill police Department was disbanded last summer, Sheriff Johnson smoothly diverted resources to provide law enforcement for that community. And not only did he succeed in so doing, but he did it while easing friction and criticisms within what had been a contentious political situation.
Sheriff Johnson is a Republican, and of course, I commend him for his party affiliation. But the truth is that he has consistently run his large and complex department in the true spirit of bipartisanship with never a hint of political favoritism. In fact, he is well-known by Volusians as a provider of fair, but hard-nosed justice without regard to race, creed, nationality or political affiliation.

Based on his experience and the trust and confidence he has earned over many years of outstanding performance, the Republican Party of Volusia County takes the very greatest pride in endorsing Ben Johnson for re-election as Sheriff of Volusia County. I urge all Volusians to go to the polls and vote to keep Ben as our sheriff.
Together for Volusia and for America,
