NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Deb Denys did herself a favor and brought her friendly dog along with her for early voting Sunday outside the New Smyrna Beach Library.

And why not?

He's as cute as a dog can be, especially dressed in a "Deb Denys for County Council" campaign shirt and his little green hat. Oh, and his name is "Favor."

Headline Surfer caught up with Denys on the second day of Early Voting at the New Smyrna Beach Public Library in advance of November's general election where she is battling longtime New Smyrna City Commissioner Jim Hathaway for the district 3 seat on the Volusia County Council. Though Hathaway defeated Denys in a three-way primary in August, she has not given up on her quest for the county seat.

Denys brought along her dog along for inspiration and as a drawing card, encouraging more people to say hello to the gentle creature and allow her the opportunity to spread her campaign message.
