On this Veterans Day we pay tribute to all military servicemen and women who have served to protect the freedom we enjoy -- freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of opportunity and justice for all. Some have made the supreme sacrifice in defense of our freedoms.
Many millions more have been wounded and suffer physical disabilities. Throughout the years, families of veterans have also endured many hardships, physically, emotionally and financially.
There are a variety of ways Americans can demonstrate their recognition and appreciation on veteran's day for the sacrifices made by our military such as pausing for a few minutes of personal silence in reflection, attending commemorative ceremonies, placing flags at grave sites, marching in parades, dedicating memorials. Whether done individually or collectively, it is the thought that counts.

Public displays of patriotism are also important for our youth in instilling awareness of the sacrifices made by our military to ensure the benefits they enjoy. The concept of war has changed. The onslaught is even more disastrous with the introduction and employment of terrorist actions and guerrilla warfare.
Can you imagine the dangers each soldier faces the minute he or she goes on duty. In addition to being strapped in heavy, clumsy military gear, they face an indistinguishable enemy. The insurgent could be wearing a bomb belt, could be mingling among the crowd of pedestrians. Our soldiers are always exposed to I.E.D'S (improvised explosive devices), truck bombs, or exposed to chlorine gas bomb attacks.
Our men and women deserve our prayers everyday for their safety and well being. We need to remember every day the hardships they endure and the sacrifices they make. God bless all our military men and women! God bless all our veterans! God bless America!
