NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Votran bus routes throughout Volusia County could be impacted by parades this weekend and next weekend, including the Saturday afternoon Christmas parade in New Smyrna Beach, county officials said.
“We’ve tried to ensure as little disruption to service as safely possible,” Votran General Manager Steven Sherrer said. “To minimize the inconvenience, we’ve tried to gather as much parade information as possible to share with our riders.”
County spokeswoman Michelle Coats said most parades are scheduled for two hours. Parade route streets close an hour ahead of the parade. Some side streets may be closed.
Here is the scedule of parades, which could alter Votran times:
Saturday
HOLLY HILL: 10 a.m. Parade route begins at U.S. 1 and travels from Flomich Avenue to City Hall. Route 3 will be impacted.
DELAND: 2 p.m.; streets close at 11 a.m. Parade lineup is on Woodland Boulevard at Plymouth Avenue, and the parade ends at Hubbard/Earl Brown Park. This will affect Route 20.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH : 4 p.m. Parade begins at the Flagler Avenue beach approach and travels to Canal Street via the North Causeway. The North Causeway will be closed. Flex routes will be impacted.
Saturday, Dec. 8
EDGEWATER: 10 am. Parade route begins at Air Park Road and State Road 442 and goes to US Hwy 1. The parade will affect Route 41 in Florida Shores.
DAYTONA BEACH SHORES: 4 p.m. Parade route begins at Walgreens (3001 S. State Road A1A) to the Cracked Egg Diner (3280 S. State Road A1A). Parade will affect Route 17.
ORANGE CITY: 5 p.m. Lineup begins at 4 p.m. on U.S. 17/92 at French Avenue and goes south to Ohio Avenue and will affect Route 20.
DAYTONA BEACH BOAT PARADE: 6:15 p.m. Night service Routes 3,4, 10 and 15 will be affected by the use of the Main Street Bridge
ORMOND BEACH: 6:30 pm. The parade route will include U.S. 1 at Division Street to Granada Boulevard and ends at Beach Street by City Hall. This will affect routes 3, 18 and 19 as well as the Route 3 Night. Saturday Dec 15 Deltona: 6 pm. The parade route will include Providence Boulevard from Fort Smith Boulevard to City Hall. It will affect routes 21, 22 and 23.
