ORLANDO -- A 28-year-old man smashed his new Dodge Caravan into his neighbor's garage while apparently asleep at the wheel just after 3 this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

And he wasn't even intoxicated.

Trooper Charles Lewis responded to a 9-1-1 call at 3:07 a.m. at 1506 Lando Lane, where a van had smashed into the closed garage. The 2013 Dodge Caravan was driven by Joshua Carver, who told the trooper he fell asleep at the wheel, and was subsequently charged with careless driving in the Orange County neighborhood.

Here is a narrative of what happened as described by Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Wanda Diaz: Carver was traveling east when he drove into a neighbors yard from his own while apparently asleep behind the wheel and struck the garage.

Diaz said the sleepy motorist was not injured nor were the occupants of the house. She added alcohol was not a factor in the mishap.
