David Santiago, R-Deltona, announced today he is a candidate for the newly-redrawn U.S. House District 6, encompassing all of Volusia and Flagler counties, as well as parts of Lake and St. Johns.

After my two terms fighting for the residents of Volusia County in the Florida House of Representatives, I eagerly announce my candidacy for the vacant Sixth Congressional District."

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- State Rep. David Santiago, R-Deltona, announced today he is a candidate for the newly-redrawn U.S. House District 6, encompassing all of Volusia and Flagler counties, as well as parts of Lake and St. Johns.

"We need real leaders with the courage and proven experience to do what’s best for our community, as well as our nation and world," Santiago continued. "After my two terms fighting for the residents of Volusia County in the Florida House of Representatives, I eagerly announce my candidacy for the vacant Sixth Congressional District."

Santiago, who will forgoe a second four-year term in the Florida Statehouse, continued, "A committed conservative with the actions to back up my words, I will be a voice for repealing Obamacare as we know it, securing our borders at all costs, abolishing the IRS and reforming our broken entitlement system.”

Adam Barringer, former mayor of New Smyrna Beach, was the first Republican to announce his candidacy for the 6th Congressional district 6 seat held by Ron DeSantis, R-St. Augustine.

DeSantis is forgoing a run for a third two-year term in favor of seeking the US Senate seat being vacated by Marco Rubio, who is running for president.
