NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- The lawyer for the Florida Law Enforcement found dead with his wife in their Cedar Avenue home died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head Sept. 22, while there were no outward signs of trauma to the wife's body, autopsies done by the Volusia County Medical Examiner's Office revealed.
The death of 58-year-old Steven G. Brady was ruled a suicide while the death of Pamela Palmer Brady remains an unsolved homicide, pending toxicology reports, said New Smyrna Beach police spokesman Sgt. Michael Brouillette. The Bradys were found dead in their home at 9:35 Monday at 312 Cedar Ave., after a "well-being" check.
Pamela Brady was a Crystal Lake Elementary School teacher in Lake Mary and it was her colleagues who called police after being concerned when she did not show up for work Monday morning, which led to the well-being check by New Smyrna Beach and the discovery of the bodies
Brady was an attorney with the Orlando office of FDLE since 1985. He had been under investigation for violating "policy and procedure," last month before abruptly retiring an FDLE official said, without elaborating further. FDLE investigators were looking into reports that Brady and a married co-worker were having an affair.
The investigation has yet to reveal whether Brady killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. New Smyrna Beach police did not release details on the type of gun used in his suicide.
