OSTEEN -- A 24-year-old Osteen man was pumping gas Dec. 5 at the Sunoco on State Road 415, when he was shot to death by a man who pulled into the station in a pick-up truck.
Christopher Joseph Mclellan suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest in the 7 p.m. incident and was transported by EVAC ambulance to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Acting on information developed by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Seminole deputies responded to the Seminole Garden Apartments in Sanford the morning of Dec. 12 and located the accused killer, David Wright Jr. inside one of the units. He was taken into custody without incident on a Dec. 6 warrant obtained by Volusia County Sheriff's investigators, charging him with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Mclellan.
According to eyewitness accounts, Wright got out of his vehicle, yelled "What's up punk?" and then pistol-whipped the victim before shooting him, the Sheriff's Office reported,
before the accused killer fled in a black Ford pickup truck traveling along S.R. 415 towards Sanford.
Both men were convicted felons for drugs and battery, and Wright was previously convicted of aggravated assault, armed carjacking and fleeing and eluding police.
