Bank of America branch in Daytona Beach robbed

DAYTONA BEACH -- A man robbed the Bank of America branch on West International Speedway Boulevard earlier today by passing a note to a teller and implying he was armed, Daytona Beach police said.

The teller gave the robber a bag of money, but also included a dye pack that exploded shortly after he ran from the bank at 2:55 p.m. The robber droped the bag, but still kept some of the money as he fled the scene.

The robber is described as a white man in his mid-20s, with a thin build, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8 and weighing 160 to 170pounds. He has a thin beard and a mustache. There was no specific clothing described except for a green camouflage cap with the word "Hooters" in orange.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call Daytona Beach Police Detective J. J. Warren at (386) 671-5238 or Crime Stoppers, 888-277-TIPS (8477). Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.
