NSBNEWS.net photos by Henry Frederick. The New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors has recommended the election of Mayoral candidate Adam Barringer, Zone 2 incumbent City Commissioner Jack Grasty and Zone 1 City Commissioner candidate Judy Reiker.
NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Mayoral candidate Adam Barringer, incumbent Zone 2 City Commissioner Jack Grasty and Zone 1 City Commissioner candidate Judy Reiker all received "recommendation" for support from the New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors for the Sept. 22 primary and in the general election.
Barringer, who is challenging first-term incumbent Mayor Sally Mackay along with fellow candidate Marilee Walters, was ecstatic with the suppoort of the group.
"I appreciate the confidence the Board of Realtors has in my ability to see this city move forward in the best way possible," Barringer said earlier tonight.
Grasty, who is being challenged by former planning board member Steve Sather and Palmer Wilson, neither of whom has held elective office, said he was "Honored the Board of Realtors are confident in my re-election as we move forward with developing opportunities for economic growth and the creation of jobs.
Reiker, who is challenging first-term incumbent Zone 2 City Commissioner Randy Richenberg, along with fellow candidate Frank Dalton Jr., said she was "pleased and honored" by the recommendation from the Board of Realtors.
The Candidate Screening/Legislative Committee of the New Smyrna Beach Board of Realtors screened all the candidates seeking election to the positions of Mayor, Commissioner Zone 1 and Commissioner Zone 2 and has made candidate support recommendations to the Board of Directors.
The Board of Directors approved the committee's recommendations and candidate campaign funding from the Florida Realtors Political Action Committee.
Each candidate appeared before the committee and responded to a common set of prepared questions. The selected candidates gave responses that the committee "believes most strongly identified with the issues important to the Real Estate Industry and to a flourishing local community."
The Board of Realtors urges New Smyrna Beach voters "consider supporting these candidates in the primary election on September 22 and in the general election on November 3rd if they are still in the running. Mayor: Adam Barringer City Commissioner Zone 1- Judy Reiker City Commissioner Zone 2- Jack Grasty."
