BREAKING NEWS ALERT: Daytona Beach Cops: Two shot near the Boardwalk; victims with non-life-threatening injuries

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Daytona Beach cops are actively investigating a shooting near the boardwalk involving two gunshot victims.

"Two victims have sustained non-life-threatening injuries," police said in a statement released shortly after 9:15 p.m.

UPDATE: The ages of the two shooting victims were given by police as 19. Both were transported to Halifax Medical Center, where they were reported to be stable. 

A preliminary investigation suggests the victims and the shooter(s) knew each other, police said. No other information was released on the shooting, which police responded to at 7:15 p.m. 

"It is believed that all parties involved were attendees at an unsanctioned 'Beach Day' event in the area, police said,  

Today was the traditional start of Spring Break in the Sunshine State.
