BREAKING NEWS: Labor Day tragedy -- Baby boy drowns in swimming pool in Deltona

DELTONA -- The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office received a frantic 911 call at 7:45 p.m. about a lifeless baby boy, only 20 months old, being pulled out of a relatives' swimming pool at a in thre 1300 block of  Ferendina Drive on this Labor Day evening.

"Adults at the scene were attempting CPR while awaiting the arrival of deputies and paramedics, but they reported that the child wasn’t responding," Sheriff's spokesman Gary Davidson told Headline Surfer®. "Emergency units began arriving at the house about two minutes after the call was received."

The child was transported by ambulance to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, where he was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m.

The little boy was with his family visiting relatives at the time of the tragic death. No other information was released. 

Davidson said the vixtim's name would likely be released Tuesday once he has official confirmation on his identity and that of his parents.

This is the fourth drowning of a small child in Volusia County so far this year. Here are the previous incidents:

• Aug. 11 -- Carter Cushman, 2 years old, died one day after he was pulled out from a pool in Edgewater by his father.

• Aug. 5 -- David Airhart, 3, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after being from the bottom of a pool on near Ormond Beach by his father.

• .Jan. 26 -- Gaven Johnson, 4, drowned in a pool at his family's home in Deltona. Sheriff’s Office investigators said the boy’s mother had fallen asleep, and when she woke up, she found him at the bottom of the pool. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
