County officials will hold meeting Tuesday to explain comp. plan amendment updates

DELAND -- Volusia County staff will conduct a public workshop to provide an overview of proposed 10-2 cycle large-scale amendments to the county’s comprehensive plan. The workshop will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the first-floor training rooms of the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center, 123 W. Indiana Ave.

Items included in the plan amendment are:

* CPA 10-2-1: Guerra amendment. A future land use map amendment to change the future land use designation on approximately 17.31 acres from urban medium intensity to commercial.

* CPA 10-2-2: Lake Colby Park addition. A future land use map amendment to change the future land use designation on approximately 21.14 acres from rural to recreation.

* CPA 10-2-3: Lake George Conservation Area addition. A future land use map amendment to change the future land use designation on approximately 50.34 acres from environmental systems corridor to conservation.

* CPA 10-2-4: Chuck Lennon Park addition. A future land use map amendment to change the future land use designation on approximately 9.3 acres from rural to recreation.

* CPA 10-2-5: Transportation element map amendments. Amendments are proposed to remove roads from the county thoroughfare map, reflect current Florida Department of Transportation strategic intermodal system roads, modify the county's hurricane evacuation routes, and update the level of service standards map. The proposed revisions will affect the following figures: Figure 2-1 Thoroughfare Roadway System Map, Figure 2-3 Roadway Number of Lanes 2025 Map, Figure 2-5 Level of Service Standards 2025 Map, and Figure 2-7 Designated Evacuation Routes 2025 Map.

* CPA 10-2-6: Transportation element policy amendments. Minor text amendments to reflect current county policies and reflect adjusted level of service standards on two Florida Department of Transportation roads that had improvements programmed and have since been deferred due to the economic downturn.
