At left, Pub 44 bartender Karen Scarborough, 45, of Edgewater is all smiles Sunday afternoon during Day 3 of the 10-day Bike Week motorcycle rally. The locale was jam-packed with bikers on a much warmer and sunny day compared to the sparse crowds that endured much colder temperatures and rain. NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Pub 44 bartender Karen Scarborough of Edgewater was all smiles Sunday. And why not? With temperatures in the low 50s and sunny skies, Bike Week 2010, made a turn around from the dismal showing of the first two days with day-time temps barely at 40 and sporadic rain.
Pub 44 on State Road 44, across from the NSB Regional Shopping Center, the hub for local Bike Week actvities, was packed with biker patrons, who enjoyed good food and beer, live music, sexy bartenders, and plenty of sports on several large screen TVs, including the NASCAR Srint Cup race race from Las Vegas won by Jimmy Johnson over Jeff Gordon, and even bigger, the Canadian hockey team beating the Americans for the gold, 3-2 in overtime after a goal by the NHL's Sidney Crosby, in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
There were bikers seemingly everywhere, locally at restaurants, bars, campgrounds. Tragically, Bike Week 2010 saw its first fatality in the late afternoon when a woman passenger on a bike was thrown after two bikes going in the same direction collided on South Atlantic Avenue (See our breaking news story). The operator of the bike was airlifted to Halifax Medical Center with serious head injuries.

This gorgeous chopper is among the diverse styles of motorcycles parked at Pub 44. This gentle pooch takes it all in stride at one of the vendor tables whiles his master sells his trinkets.
