DAYTONA BEACH SHORES -- Police didn't have to go far to fina a man they suspect robbed the SunTrust Bank branch at 3640 S. Atlantic Ave. on Monday.
Steven Rife, 28, was charged with robbery an grand theft and grand theft shortly after the 12.44 p.m. when police arrived at his residence on the third floor of the Beach Club Condominium, 3727 S. Atlantic Ave.
Witnesses told police they saw the robber run to the condominium after they idfentified him from surveillance photos. A bank teller also identified him.
The robber had gone into the bank with a note demanding cash and he threatened to shoot the clerk, implying he had a gun.
The man refused to answer his door, but cops got to him from an adjoining balcony when he stepped out onto his own balcony.
Rife was being held on $5,000 bail at the olusia County Branch Jail. Police did not indicate how miuch of the undisclosed cash taken in the robbery was receovered, if any.
