EDGEWATER -- A 15-year-old Edgewater boy has been charged for a second time since February with intentionally starting a brush fire near the Florida Shores subdivision, Edgewater police said Thursday.
Police said the boy confessed to Wednesday night fire in the 1800 block of 35th Street at Pine Tree Drive. NSBNEWS.net is not naming the child because of his age.
According to a police report charging the teen with arson, he allegedly wrote: "I think I am an arsonist because I like the smell of fires."
The boy lit a palm frond on fire and then informed a neighbor who called 9-1-1.
There were no damages, police said, adding the boy admitted to several similar fires in the area in February, which led to his initial arrest.
