GOP Massachusetts win has great potential for the country

Martha Coakley might have had a fighting chance at keeping Ted Kennedy’s longstanding Democratic seat if Barack Obama had just stayed out of Massachusetts.

Republican Scott Brown’s stunning upset win over Coakley has some exciting ramifications for the rest of the country. With any luck it will halt or at least slow down America ’s rush to become a Marxist state with Obama at the helm and his first year in office a dismal failure..

To take a seat that Massachusetts voters have blindly given to Ted Kennedy and hand it over just like that it to the Republican upstart candidate seemed like an impossibility, especially since the Democrats had a 26 point lead just over a month ago.

That was, of course, until Obama stepped in and sent the undecided voters running in the direction of the GOP.

The Democrats are quick to criticize Coakley for running a weak campaign. However, from here it appears that there were a lot of important factors that had little to do with her. A lethal combination of trying to pass incredibly bad legislation combined with incredibly bad behavior is what mostly did them in.

A short list of what the Democrats did to lose the race includes but is not limited to the following:

* A health care bill that threatens to bankrupt the country while making health care problems worse;

* A cap and trade bill that would impose hundreds of billions of economy ruining taxes on the country while accomplishing nothing toward fighting the imaginary threat of global warming;

* Government take over of banking and the auto industry;

* Government takeover of student loans;

* A totally feckless and ineffective stimulus program designed to buy votes;

* Threats of higher taxes and regulation;

* Bald faced efforts to buy out senators from Louisiana and Nebraska with billions of taxpayer money to get them to vote for the health care bill;

* Bald faced lying about what their true intentions are;

* Conducting so much of their law making in secret and then ramming it through without giving anyone time to investigate what was in the laws;

* Adopting an economic program that can do nothing to help the country;

* Adopting counterproductive policies in the war on terror.

This is not an all inclusive list by any means, but it contains a lot of what caused the Massachusetts voters to elect Scott Brown.

It is hoped that Brown’s election will put a stop to the further socialization of medicine cap and trade and many of the other terrible policies the democrats are trying to force on the American public.

This election does not mean that the electorate has suddenly grasped the concepts of economics or realizes how bad big government is for their freedom and economic well being.

What this election does mean is that if Conservatives work hard enough and smart enough, this country can be pulled back from the brink of disaster.
