Holly Hill cops: Woman found floating in pond has died

HOLLY HILL -- A woman rescue from a retention pond where she was seen floating and apparently unconscious was rescued by bystanders Tuesday, but she died a half hour after she was transported by ambulance to Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center.

Police responded to several 9-1-1 calls at 10:22 a.m. to a pond near the Publix at Calle Grande where efforts were made to try and resuscitate the woman whose identity was not released.

An investigation is ongoing, including an autopsy report in hopes of determining what led to her death, said Holly Hill Police Chief Steve Aldrich.
