TALLAHASSEE -- State Rep. Dorothy. Hukill, R-Port Orange, applauded the passage of a measure aimed at providing regulatory relief and encouraging economic activity and recovery. House Bill (HB) 7099 provides assurance that actions taken under the Community Renewal Act of 2009 are protected.
"This bill saves real jobs at a time when we can ill-afford to lose even one more job in the State of Florida," Hukill said.
In 2009, the Legislature enacted Chapter 2009-96, Laws of Florida, commonly referred to as The Community Renewal Act of 2009.
The Act was designed to remove stumbling blocks to economic recovery and to facilitate future economic activity. By removing regulatory barriers and streamlining the review process, the policy set forth in that bill allows urban centers to prosper, while recognizing the needs of our rural communities.
Today's action is intended to protect the actions taken by property owners and local governments under the 2009 legislation.
The bill passed in the House and now moves to the Senate.
