DAYTONA BEACH -- Karen Adams Foxman began her legal career in 1996, serving as a young prosecutor in Volusia County after obtaining her undergraduate degree from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and law degree from Campbell University.

Foxman quickly became a very successful prosecutor. She handled multiple and complex prosecutions, spanning all levels, including juvenile, misdemeanor and felony. Foxman has tried hundreds of cases. For her performance in jury trials, she was recognized with the State Attorney's Office "Top Gun" award in 1999.

After a successful career as a prosecutor, Foxman joined a local law firm where she established herself as a prominent family law attorney.

In this capacity, Foxman obtained valuable civil trial experience, but also witnessed first-hand the extreme emotional turmoil from clients facing family separation and child custody battles.

These experiences motivated her to reach out to the less fortunate, and since has been recognized for her extensive pro bono volunteer hours for families that cannot afford an advocate for children by serving as a volunteer guardian ad litem.

In 2011, Foxman returned to the State Attorney's Office, where she serves as director of operations for Volusia County, the largest county in the four-county circuit that includes Flagler, Putnam and St. Johns.

She currently supervises more than 45 career prosecutors as well as overseeing other staff members.

Foxman has also been passionate about improving the quality of legal services in Volusia County. She was selected by her peers to serve as president of both the Volusia County Bar Association and the Volusia/Flagler Association of Women Lawyers.
