NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Raymond B. Hallstrom, better known as "Ray" among his colleagues and friends in the Kiwanis Club of Southeast Volusia, will be remembered for his "good works" as the longtime secretary of the club, having died on June 30, at the Hospice Care Center in Edgewater. He was 64.
Herman Mitchell, president of the local Kiwanis, said he and the other 59 members were saddened to hear of Hallstrom's passing.
"He was a great asset to the club," Mitchell said. "He was very good in his (position) as secretary."

Hallstrom, an Edgewater resident born in Teaneck, N.J., came to this area in 1999, from Mt. Arlington, N.J. A graduate of Farleigh Dickinson University, he was a retired marketing sales representative and was secretary of the Kiwanis at the time of his death.
Survivors include Hallstrom's two daughters, Victoria and Katherine; a son, Chip; a brother, Robert; and three grandchildren.
A celebration of Hallstrom's life will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Settle-Wilder New Smyrna Beach chapel, with Chaplain Mark Spivey, Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Kiwanis Foundation, P.O. Box 905, New Smyrna Beach, FL 32170.
