Man with pistol robs DeLand pharmacy of painkiller pills

DELAND -- A man armed with a pistol robbed the CVS pharmacy,2497 South Woodland Blvd., on Sunday, of prescription pills, including the addictive painkiller Oxycodone, DeLand police said.

The robber walked around to the inside of the counter and pointed a black semi-automatic pistol at the pharmacist, ordering her to open the safe and give him Oxycodone.

Once the safe was opened, he grabbed the painkiller as well as other pills and fled in the 11:29 a.m. robbery, police said.

DeLand police, with assistance from Volusia County sheriff's deputies and a helicopter searched the imeediate area, but could not find the robber, described as white in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

He had brown hair and wore a dark colored hat, white T-shirt and khaki shorts.
