DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR has announced major rules updates for the upcoming NASCAR Cup Series Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway.
To increase passing, officials are shortening the rear spoiler to 4 inches and reducing engine horsepower to approximately 465.

Superspeedway Package Updates:
To break up fuel-saving strategies and limit drag, NASCAR's working group developed a new specification sheet for the Aug. 29 race at Daytona:
- Spoiler Height
: Dropped from 7 inches to 4 inches, which reduces the car's aerodynamic drag.
- Engine Horsepower
: Reduced from 510 to roughly 465 via a smaller tapered spacer to keep closing rates in check.
- Splitter & Braces
: Wide splitter stuffers are being implemented alongside new spoiler braces to manage the reduced downforce.

: The regular-season Cup Series finale takes place on August 29, 2026 .
