NBA ring not a priority: Daytona's Vince Carter signs with Sac Kings where he can play as opposed to sitting with a contender

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --Vince Carter, the NBA's oldest player, would rather play full-time on a rebuilding team rather than sit on the bench in chasing a ring.

The Mainland High grad will sign with the rebuilding Atlanta Hawks for his 21st 21st season.

The 410-year-old Carter has agreed to a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Hawks on Wednesday, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Atlanta finished last season with the worst record in the Eastern Conference (24-58).

Carter has scored 24,868 points in his two decades of professional basketball, putting him 22nd-highest in NBA history. He's also appeared in eight all-star games and he won a gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
