I am outraged that the Florida Board of Education has put out a memo excusing students from having to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of our country. First, we have our president who does not place his hand over his heart when the National Anthem is being played and now our children can ignore the significance of our flag.
Part of the reason for this is the one nation “under God” part which may offend some students in a class. Well, too bad!
This country needs to get itself right and assert its rights and I mean now. People who come here from other countries should be told that the official language is English and you learn it.
We don’t print your language on our signs or your ballots, driver’s license tests or anything else. We will not press one for English anymore either. When my great-grandparents came here from Italy, they learned to speak English. They did not expect Americans to learn their language.
My grandfather wouldn’t even teach us any Italian because as he put it “You’re in America , you speak English."
We also need to assert that we are a Christian country. Yes, we are a free country and we don’t deny you the right to worship as you please or speak your native tongue at home etc.But we do not change our rules for every new faction that comes into this country. They adapt to their new country not we adapt to them.
What is wrong with our governments and supreme courts that are making these ridiculous decisions? Why do we Americans let them do it?
We’ve become a nation of sheep and are about to jump off a cliff. When enough of us have jumped this will cease to be the United States of America and become the disjointed states of no rules apply.
I am not a radical person, but I do believe it is way past time to stop the nonsense and take our country back. We did not fight for independence from England so that we can let newcomers who aren’t even citizens change our country to suit them, did we?
Come on America: The time to stand up for your country is now!
FAST FACTS

In 1954, during the McCarthy era and communism scare, Congress passed a bill, signed into law by President Eisenhower, to add the words "under God."
