NSB book club to meet July 25 to review ‘House of Sand and Fog’

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Members of the NSB Select/Reflect Book Club will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library to watch the movie “House of Sand and Fog” and then discuss the novel of the same name by Andre Dubus III.

House of Sand and Fog is a 2003 American drama film directed by Vadim Perelman. The screenplay by Perelman and Shawn Lawrence Otto is based on the novel of the same name by Andre Dubus III.

In the book and the movie, a woman gets evicted from her home for failing to pay a wrongful tax. The house is swiftly put up for auction and bought by a former Iranian colonel. The 2003 film stars Jennifer Connelly as Kathy Nicolo, Ben Kingsley as Col. Massoud Amir Behrani and Shohreh Aghdashloo as Nadereh "Nadi" Behrani.

The library is open seven days a week at 1001 S. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach. It’s open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
