NEW SMYRNA BEACH -- Here are the list of winners of the first-ever New Smyrna Beach Shrimp & Seafood Festival held Thursday night on Flagler Avenue that drew some 2,000 people: Best on the Beach Shrimp Best on the Beach (aka 1st Place) South Atlantic Grill, Shrimp & Mango Roll 2nd Place, Flip Flops, Chili Rubbed Shrimp w/Cilantro-lime 3rd Place, Chase's, Watermelon Infused Grilled Shrimp Best on the Beach Shellfish Best on the Beach (aka 1st Place), Flip Flops Proscuitto wrapped scallop w/Banana Creole & Mustard Sauce 2nd Place, Dolce Vita, Crab Stuffed Pasta Shells with Béchamel Sauce 3rd Place, Spanish River Grill, Jelly Donut (savory conch) Best on the Beach Fish Best on the Beach (aka 1st Place), Dolce Vita, Tilapia Involtini 2nd Place, Spanish River Grill, Ceviche 3rd Place, Norwoods, Panco Seared Mahi w/Sun Dried Tomato and Cheese Best on the Beach Specialty Seafood Best on the Beach (aka 1st Place), Chase's, Poached Lobster, Scallop & French Crepe 2nd Place, Flip Flops, Maderia Glazed King Crab 3rd Place, Stella's Skyline Cafe, Cajun Kabob's The winners were chosen from a panel of six judges and judging was done in a blind tasting, said Elaine Stathakis, an owner of the Om Bar on Flagler, and one of the organizers.
