DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- On this, the first day of the golden age of America, I would like to mention that it is not the constitutional duty of the executive to impose tariffs. That duty is assigned to the Congress and the Congress alone.
The Congress, not anticipating the present cluster, adopted a law some time ago that permits the executive to impose tariffs in an "emergency." So, an "emergency" has been declared. What you may ask is, is this an emergency?
Well, the executive has declared "a national emergency to increase our competitive edge, protect our sovereignty, and strengthen our national and economic security." (That, incidentally, defines what he wants to do - it does not define an "emergency").
Surprisingly, he has taken it upon himself to start a trade war that will cost every one of us by declaring a totally bogus emergency. Doesn't it seem out of place to you that one little sociopathic narcissist in the early stages of dementia can get away with declaring this "emergency" to impose his singular will upon the other 8,000,000,000+ people who inhabit this Earth?

Maybe a real, honest to God, Congress would find the common sense and courage to use its constitutional authority to reign in this would-be dictator. Oh, wait... We just elected a Trump suck-up to be our congressional representative. I reckon that won't work. Another great electoral choice that will have unbearable consequences. Congratulations to us all.
