SANFORD, Fla --  Sanford cops said Saturday they had Andraus Zyrae Lee in custody related to an overnight shooting that took place in a parking lot outside of the Wet Spot bar.

Here is a brief synopsis of what occurred at 12:35 am, according to Sanford police spokeswoman Bianca Gillett: A Sanford police investigator working a detail at the Wet Spot,112 S. Park Ave, heard a gunshot from the parking lot east of the business. The investigator then saw a beige Toyota Camry speed off.

The investigator communicated the information to Seminole County Dispatch, and maintained visual contact with the vehicle for as long as he could, Gillett said. That's when Sanford cops responding to the parking lot found a black male, later identified as George Beasley, suffering from a gunshot wound in the head.  Beasley was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in life-threatening condition.

The suspect vehicle continued into Volusia County, where it crashed in a wooded area near Doyle and Pinelyn Road. With the assistance of Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and Seminole County’s Alert, the driver, Andraus Zyrae Lee, and the passenger, De’Shaun Williams, were arrested and taken into custody by Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Both are expected to be returned to Seminole County to face multiple felony charges related to the near-fatal shooting and for fleeing and eluding, that is, if the victim doesn't survive in the interim then charges will likely be amended to murder.

Sanford cops did not release any information as to what may have sparked the senseless bloodshed in the street.
