SE Volusia cancellations announced with T.S. Fay

NSB City Commission meeting rescheduled # A special New Smyrna Beach City Commission meeting will be held 5 p.m. Thursday in the Deberry Room of the Utilities Commission Building, 200 Canal St. The meeting was scheduled for Tuesday, byt moved due to Tropical Storm Fay.

Early voting locales changed # Early voting locations in the New Smyrna Beach Library and elsewhere in Volusia County will be closed on Wednesday. Voters can go to the early voting site at the Volusia County Historic Courthouse, 125 W. New York Ave., DeLand.

Kiwanis canceled #The regular noon Wednesday luncheon meeting of the Kiwanis Club is canceled.

Farmer's Market canceled # Farmer’s market, Volusia County Farm Bureau, DeLand Fairgrounds, is canceled Wednesday.

Sandbags # Sand and sand bags have been made available for Oak Hill residenrts at the Oak Hill Volunteer Fire station on U.S. 1, Oak Hill police said.

Volusia County Fire Stations # Residents must bring their shovels and fill and transport the bags. There is a 25-bag limit per household. Volusia County Fire Station 23, 1850 Pioneer Trail, New Smyrna Beach, Volusia County Road and Bridge office, 530 N. Dixie Freeway, NSB, Volusia County Fire Station 22, 213 N. Hwy. U.S. 1, Oak Hill.

Shelters There are no evacuations, but residents in manufactured homes or those in low-lying areas can go to one of three designated county shelters, beginning 10 a.m. Tuesday:

# Atlantic High School, 1250 Reed Canal Road, Port Orange - (pets placed separately there).
# Heritage Middle School, 1001 Parnell Court, Deltona - (pets placed separately there).
# Volusia County Fairgrounds, Tommy Lawrence building, 3150 E. State Road 44, DeLand - (people and pets together).
 

Homeless # The STAR Center on North Street in Daytona Beach will open the dining hall 6 p.m. Tuesday or eralier, if necessary.

Report price gouging # It’s against the law to charge high prices for essentials, such as gas, food and water, following an emergency declaration.
