Sheriff's Office: DeLand beauty shop robber arrested

DELAND -- A woman who showed up at the DeLand Police Department headquarters Tuesday night wanting to know why a video was broadcast on the local evening news featuring her as a
suspect in a robbery was arrested on scene by Sheriff's deputies, an agency spokesman said.

"Shortly after 8 p.m. Volusia County Sheriff's deputies responded to the police department to ask her about her involvement in a robbery of a beauty supply shop on Friday," Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught said. "The woman claimed there had not been a robbery, but investigators felt that there was enough evidence to arrest her -- including the surveillance video showing her in the store at the time of the crime."

Myesha Williams, 20, was charged with strong arm robbery and retail theft. The DeLand woman will be transported to the Volusia County Branch Jail in Daytona Beach.

The other woman shown in the video went with Williams to talk with deputies, too. But investigators determined that she had left the store before the actual robbery took place, so she was not charged, Haught said.

The robbery at Isis Beauty Supply & Accessories on East New York Avenue was called in to the Sheriff’s Office at 5:31 p.m. Friday afternoon.
