SANFORD, Fla. -- There were fireworks galore over the Fourth of July weekend celebration throughout Central Florida, despite some thunderstorms that put a damper on some of the celebrations.

The City of Sanford government noted: "A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate at Star Spangled Sanford with us! Even though Mother Nature tried to rain on our parade, the Sanford community showed up, brought the energy, and proved that we know how to throw a party—rain or shine!"

And here is the perspective of Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Amy Pennock on the July 4th weekend celebration in her own words in a social media post(shown in italics):

Happy 250th Birthday, America! 🇺🇸 I've been blessed to be part of two monumental birthdays in our nation’s history.

As a little girl, I celebrated America’s Bicentennial in 1976. Today, I have the incredible honor of serving as your Supervisor of Elections as we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. There’s no better way to honor the generations who built this great country than by participating in the freedom they fought to protect.

This year, celebrate America by showing up, making your voice heard, and casting your vote. Our country was built on the principles of liberty, self-government, and the belief that every citizen has a voice. Let’s honor that legacy together and continue shaping the next chapter of America’s story-one vote at a time.

Happy Independence Day, and Happy 250th Birthday, America! God Bless the USA!
