TAMPA, Fla. -- Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen are married no more.
Each explained the situation at hand on their separate Instagram accounts earlier in the day.
"The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always," Gisele Bündchen wrote.
Tom Brady wrote: "We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration. Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world."
Both said they split amicably and have their children's best interests at heart. They also asked for privacy during this difficult time. The power couple was married for 13 years.
The divorce came in the midst of Brady's 23rd NFL season with news of the divorce coming just one day after his first three-game losing streak in 20 years - a 27-22 defeat at home against the Baltimore Ravens. This after the seven-time Super Bowl champion put an end to his short-lived retirement. Brady, who had continually stated a desire in recent years stated a desire to spend more time with Bündchen and his three kids - announced his retirement from football back in February only to return 40 days later.

TMZ explained: "Tom and Gisele's lawyers were hammering out a settlement during most of the month of October and have reached an agreement on property and child custody. The settlement document was filed with the court as well, but will remain confidential."
Brady has led two different NFL teams to seven Super Bowl victories - the first six with the New England Patriots - XXXVI (2002), XXXVIII (2004), XXXIX (2005), XLIX (2015), LI (2017), LIII (2019) - and the seventh - LV (2021) - with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
