DAYTONA BEACH -- The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series once again provided fans ith a thrilling finish as the first 10 trucks to take the checkered flag in the NextEra Energy Resources 250 did so within .500 seconds of each other.
Leading the pack was the No. 17 Toyota of Timothy Peters, who captured his first win at historic Daytona International Speedway and the second NASCAR Truck Series win of his career.
"I can't believe it," Peters said of the win. "To win here at Daytona is just unbelievable. Look at the history that this place has behind it. To get out of that truck and to get soaked with Gatorade from the guys, knowing that you're in Victory Lane at Daytona - it just sends chills down my back. It's an awesome feeling."
Peters made his move on leader and two-time defending NextEra Energy Resources 250 champion Todd Bodine on the Superstretch on the final lap and benefited from a push by eventual third-place finisher Dennis Setzer in the No. 46 Dodge.
The Virginia native is a popular victor in the garage -- even with second-place finisher Bodine.
"Timmy just did it right," Bodine said. "He's a great race car driver. He's a good kid. If I had to lose, he's a good one to lose to It's disappointing for sure, but, it's a great way to start the year with a second (place finish)."
