SANFORD, Fla. -- A tractor-trailer carrying 10,000 frozen turkeys caught fire on westbound Interstate 4 in Seminole County early Thursday morning, causing the frozen fowl to spill onto the highway.
The 4:40 a.m. incident occurred at mile marker 101 in Sanford around 4:40 a.m.
According to the Seminole County Fire Department, no one was injured in the mishap. Firefighters said the driver pulled onto the shoulder and the tractor-trailer caught fire. It’s not known what caused the fire.
The fire was extinguished, but it sparked back up and had to be put out again.
Two lanes were blocked until the frozen turkeys could be swept off the roadway. All lanes were reopened after sunrise.
