DELTONA, Fla. -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is dealing with yet another violent murder -- this time a woman in her mid-20s found shot to death in her home by an electrician who found the front door at 2008 Dearing Ave. ajar.

VCSO spokesman Andrew Gant told rep[oreters on-scene investigators know the victim's name but are not releasing it. Nor would he say where she was shot nor the circumstances that led to her slaying. One thing is certain: The victim was targeted and the gunman is at large.

This is the fourth murder of a Deltona resident just barely five months into 2018 and now topping the three murders Deltona experienced last year.

In three of the four murders this year, the victims were killed in their homes.

Monday's murder was reported around 5:30 p.m., after an electrician performing work on the house discovered the victim. The front door was ajar, and after calling out several times, the worker said he went in to check if anyone was inside. He found the victim, a woman in her mid-20s, deceased.
