An early Thursday watermain break at the corner of Park Avenue and U.S. 1 in Edgewater has been repaired. In the meantime, "boil water" notices have gone out to about 25 affected businesses and homes, according to Edgewater Fire Services. Here is a snapshot of the scene.
EDGEWATER -- A water-line break at the corner of Park Avenue and U.S. 1 (South Ridgewood Avenue) has been repaired and water service restored to those affected, said Jill Danigel, spokeswoman for Edgewater Fire Services.
The affected parties have been notified by Environmental Services personnel regarding the boil water notice that is in effect, she said, adding, water samples have been taken today and will be taken again tomorrow with the hopes of rescinding the boil water notice on Saturday.
Approximately 25 businesses and a few private homes have been issued the boil water notice.
The area encompassed by the boil water notice is from Wilkinson Drive to Old County Road on both the north and south sides of East and West Park Avenue.
These boil water notices are being hand delivered by Environmental Services personnel. This notice will remain in effect for at least 48 hours. Residents/businesses may contact 386-424-2490 for more information regarding the boil water notice.
Those affected by the boil water notice will receive written notification when the notice has been lifted.
Road construction crews have arrived on scene to begin repaving and striping the intersection.
