We're past 50,000

Hard work does make a difference and staying committed to community journalism does make a difference. Both are emphasized and practiced religiously with this online newspaper, NSBNEWS.net. Southeast Volusia residents knew they could count on us for continuous coverage of Tropical Storm Fay. Committed coverage to greater New Smyrna Beach is why we have surpassed 50,000 "hits" since our April 11 launch.

Besides our recently added cover story, we are providing extensive local and national coverage of the Democratic National Convention. You can actually watch the convention live - in real time - on our Web site, vote in our Insta Poll, watch our nightly Webcast, check out the latest wire service headlines and read the opinions of our local political bloggers: retired Col. Irving Davidoff, Michael Visconti and Gerry Tatham. You can also check our endorsements for Tuesday's Florida primaries.

I am thankful for the daily contributions of Peter Mallory and his mentoring and Sera King for her audio-visual skills.

Of course NSBNEWS.Net would not be as comprehensive without the talents of our contributing writers and cartoonist Lonny Russell. Our writers are pretty awesome. Besides Davidoff, Visconti and Tatham, other contributors include Kelly Azzinaro, James Tharp and W.C. Denmark, Tia McDonald, Darlene Vann, Styron James, Rosi Karnes, Congressman Tom Feeney and Sandy Roberts.

In the next few weeks, NSBNEWS.net will be revamped with a bold new look, along with more interactive features, photos, videos, entertainment and nightlife listings as well as reporter notebook items.

We look forward to providing around the clock news coverage -- local and worldwide -- for the citizens and merchants of Southeast Volusia. And yes, the merchants are very important and valued by NSBNEWS.net and its growing readership and viewership.

Remember folks, this is the 21st century. We are fresh and green (environmentally positive -- no freebies stuffed in plastic bags littering your driveway).

Keep clicking NSBNEWS.net where the news never stops.
