DELTONA -- The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is investigating the armed robbery of a woman as she was withdrawing money from an ATM in Deltona Tuesday night.
No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident. Approximately 15 deputies, K-9 units and a Sheriff's Office helicopter responded to the area, but didn't find the suspect.
The 31-year-old woman was at the Bank of America, 1241 E. Normandy Blvd., at about 7:14 p.m. She was alone in her car at the drive-thru ATM when a man walked up to her.
"He held a gun to the woman's head and demanded the cash she had on her," Sheriff's spokesman Brandon Haught said. "She handed it over and the man then fled. Once he was gone, the woman used her cellphone to call for help. The first deputies arrived on scene in less than two minutes and began their search. A K9 unit was able to track the suspect's scent, but then abruptly lost it, leading deputies to believe he got into a vehicle."
The victim described her assailant as a Hispanic man in his mid-20s, about 5 feet 7 with short black hair. He wore a white shirt and blue jean shorts.

Tipsters can also provide information by texting "TIP231 plus the message" to CRIMES. Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
